Hey everyone!

Happy Friday! Just a quick update on shipping:

We got the sketches and bookplates back from Mathieu yesterday and forwarded them to Quartermaster today! By Tuesday, QML should have everything to start packing boxes. Their current estimate is to have Domestic and Canadian orders hitting the mail the following week (of December 13th). They are also hoping to have International freight ready to depart for the UK, Australia, and Asia hubs that same week. We will of course keep you updated as they confirm dates.

We may share some of the original drawings Mathieu did, but want to check with those backers first to see if they mind or would rather avoid spoilers...

In the meantime, if you haven't checked out the OGRE GODS campaign, it ends a week from today!

Or if you have already backed that (awesome) project (thank you), you could really do us a huge favor by

This marks our fifth release on those streaming platforms (and others, including Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, iHeartRadio, ClaroMusica, Saavn, Boomplay, Anghami, KKBox, NetEase, Tencent, Qobuz, Triller (beta), Yandex Music (beta), MediaNet, Shazam), but we have, like, zero followers. Mostly because we haven't done anything to promote ourselves on those platforms, but that's something we'd like to change in 2022, and a great start would be if all of you with a Spotify account please follow us! That will help us start to climb their algorithm ladder so that they share our stuff in other playlists, which in turn (hopefully) gains more followers, which pushes us further up the ladder... We're pretty sure that's how Justin Bieber and Post Malone got rich and famous...

You don't have to actually like it or listen to us, but just following is a huge boost. And it's not like a Facebook follow that opens you up to a bunch of spam posts -- you'll just hear about new music in your Spotify feed as it comes out (sporadically throughout the year). So if you feel like doing us a solid, we'd appreciate it! 😎

Hi everyone!

Happy Saturday! We had a fun Friday night assembling 120 copies of the limited edition Soundtrack Single that arrived this past week -- check out some pix! They're SWEET!

This makes three exclusive vinyl singles produced so far... who knows, maybe like the coins, they'll become collectible! 😁 

Aside from that excitement, we also put the finishing touches on this big reveal:

Launching THIS TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16th at 10am CST:

A few of you might be familiar with this amazing, multiple-award-winning series by the late Hubert and artist Bertrand Gatignol, but for those of you who aren't, now is the perfect time to jump into this unique and engrossing dark fantasy universe full of gothic drama and moral intrigue!

We are thrilled to announce not only the brand new, fourth and final volume in the series, FIRST BORN, but also a brand new, campaign-exclusive, limited edition Slipcased Boxed Set containing all four books!

For those of you not familiar with the series, it is set in a dark fantasy world ruled by a hierarchy of different sized giants, with each self-contained volume in the series focusing on a different element of the population: the giant Ogre Gods are introduced in PETIT, the tale of the smallest giant’s struggles with family tradition; the plight of the subservient human population is explored in HALF-BLOOD as one charming con artist rises to a seat of power; focus then turns to those humans living in the wilderness beyond the giant’s influence in THE GREAT MAN; the series ends with a look back in FIRST BORN, telling the tale of the first daughter of the first giant and her effort to break the patriarchal chains that each daughter would otherwise suffer.

Personally, this is without a doubt my favorite series we've published (and we've published a ton of amazing stuff). We're publishing this final volume posthumously in the wake of series author Hubert's passing in 2020 (mere weeks after we had the pleasure of dining with him and Bertrand in Paris), and we're hoping this campaign can be a celebration of his thought-provoking work. Bertrand completed the final volume from Hubert's finished script, and we are humbled to bring this final work to light.

If you are a fan of complex, centuries-spanning fantasy filled with mystery, intrigue, moral ambiguity, and hard-hitting dilemma, you will LOVE this series. It is described as GAME OF THRONES as in a BROTHERS GRIMM fairy tale universe, gloriously illustrated in Disney-esque sequential art, with chapters of relevant lore interspersed as illustrated prose throughout. This is a must-have hybrid for fantasy readers of all kinds.

I really hope you will check it out. It is admittedly a bit different from the colorful sci-fi we've been offering lately, but it is undoubtedly still an unequaled reading experience you will never forget.

Digital Items Uploaded! Ambassador Points Assigned!

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Just a quick update with two big pieces of news:

1) DIGITAL REWARDS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED!

You may have already received an email notification from Backerkit informing you of your Digital Downloads now added to your Pledge Manager Account. If you log into Backerkit, you will find them there -- just click the big blue button in the middle of your account screen that says "Get Your Digital Downloads" and it will take you to a page with your links. 

The book PDFs are hosted by Gumroad so you will have to use the discount link to grab those for free. (Please note that there are a limited number of downloads using your code, so please do not share it.) This includes the PDF versions of CARBON & SILICON and SHANGRI-LA. 

The other items -- the sketchbooks, John's Small Adventure mini-comic, and the soundtrack are all hosted directly on Backerkit.

2) Ambassador Points have been awarded!

In case you missed the mention on the campaign page, everyone who pledged to the campaign will receive a number of Ambassador Points equivalent to their final pledge. What are Ambassador Points?  They are reward points that can be collected and redeemed for discount codes on our webstore, and a great way to further support Magnetic Press (while getting some more cool books at a great price)!

If you are already a webstore customer and part of the program, just log into your webstore account (which should be the same email address as your Kickstarter/Backerkit account). You should see those new points added to your balance under the heading "SHANGRI-LA Kickstarter Points."

If you don't have an account on our webstore, your points have been entered, but you will need to complete registration to use them. 😊

You can use points for discount codes, gift cards, and pretty soon exclusive collectible items that you can only get using points! It's definitely a fun program that we'll be building on very soon!

We sent all of the combined order data to Quartermaster last night and they're already in the process of segmenting inventory for regional freight and product assembly (eg. putting all of the individual Stretch Goal items into a single "Stretch Goal Bundle", etc). It has been a bit of a marathon getting all three of these campaigns manually consolidated, but it's worth it to get you all of these awesome items in December! 🤩

FINAL ORDER CUT-OFF: NOON (CST) TOMORROW!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we are LOCKING ORDERS AND ADDRESSES AT NOON (CST) TOMORROW! 

The vast majority of you are all fine and set, but to the 49 of you who have not yet completed your surveys or fixed your payment information on Backerkit:

You have until noon (CST) tomorrow to complete your orders! Otherwise, your orders WILL NOT SHIP IN DECEMBER!  

Any late orders completed after 12pm (CST) tomorrow will be shipped in a second wave (with CARBON GREY) starting in late January/February.

Our effort to help reduce shipping by piggybacking several campaigns together requires a lot of manual data manipulation, and we need to lock all December-shipping order data by the end of business day tomorrow so that Quartermaster can start processing that data on Monday. Any changes to that data threaten the entire fulfillment schedule for all orders. And with over 3090 combined orders covering nearly 100 unique physical items, we want to avoid as many complications as possible. 😊

If you are not sure if you are one of those 49 late backers, please go to https://carbon-and-silicon.backerkit.com/ as soon as you can and log in using your Kickstarter email address. You can then complete your survey, confirm your order/address, and/or make any corrections to your payment method so that the order can be completed.

Orders Locked and cards charged

Hi everyone!

Just a quick update to let everyone know that orders locked yesterday evening as scheduled, and charges for any remaining balances have begun running this morning. Most have gone through without a hitch but if you are one of the few dozen backers whose card was declined, please watch for a reminder from Backerkit and correct the information as necessary! We can't proceed with your order until it has successfully completed the process!

There are also 19 of you who still need to complete your survey.  A reminder has been sent to those few through Backerkit, so if you are one of them, please complete the survey so we can get you your stuff! 😊

As mentioned earlier, we will begin distributing digital items and Ambassador Points this week, but only completed Backerkit orders (with zero balance due) will be able to receive those items. So please do us both a favor and make sure your orders are complete as soon as you can. 😊
